GUINGONA PARK IN BUTUAN


In front of Saint Joseph Cathedral of Butuan City, you can see the Guingona Park. Guingona Park is located as what used to be the public square or plaza of Butuan for many years. It is home to a large Acasia tree that is more than a century old. On its ground is the Shrine of the Philippine Flag in Mindanao to commemorate the first formal raising of the Philippine Flag on January 17.1899. The giant flag stays hoisted there night and day.


This is where most of the people stay after attending the mass. It is also the place where people usually spend their time with their family and friends. Sometimes, if there is an occasion or celebration such as light a tree every Christmas and others. It is usually held in the wide space of Guingona Park.
